About CJSA

Building World Class People

Charlie Johnson Squash Academy is a junior squash program at Bay Club Redwood Shores. We use squash as a vehicle to develop better players, stronger competitors and better people.

Our mission

Make squash enjoyable for every player

Squash is a sport few dare to try, and at CJSA, players get the opportunity to experience what competing at the highest level truly means, surrounded by teammates who become family.

Every session has a purpose. Players develop technique, movement, tactics, and the habits that create great competitors, while understanding what they are working on, why it matters, and how it translates to competition.

We believe development is about more than results. We give players the structure, coaching, and support to grow in confidence, discipline, resilience, and character. We are honest with families about where a player is, where they can go, and what it will take to get there.

CJSA is a community built for the long term. We help players and families navigate junior squash, national competition, college recruiting, and university squash. More than 50 CJSA players have reached a #1 ranking, with alumni continuing their squash careers at Ivy League and other leading US universities.

Philosophy

What we develop

The qualities we coach deliberately, every week, in every group.

Training approach

Coached, structured, repeatable

Court sessions pair technical progressions with pressure drills and conditioned games, so skills are tested under fatigue and decision making. Fitness training sits alongside the on-court week to build athletes who hold their technique together late in a match.

Private lessons offer individual attention alongside Gold and Elite Academy training, helping players focus on their own development.

Competitive pathway

From first rally to tournament squash

Players start in the Beginners Clinic, develop in Gold Academy and progress to Elite Academy as their game and commitment grow. Weekly match play gives every level real competitive reps. Elite players receive guidance through college squash recruiting, preparation and development.
